07 Mar, 2026
The seventh edition of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Research and Project Symposium (EEERaPS26) took place on March 6th at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute in Colombo. EEERaPS26 was one of three events held under the LUMINEX26 initiative, alongside the Career Fair and EEES Night. The Honorable Prime Minister, Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, attended the event as the chief guest.
The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (DEEE) is recognized as a leading contributor to exceptional research on both national and international fronts. This symposium offered an invaluable platform for undergraduate and postgraduate students to present their research findings and innovations, with a particular emphasis on engaging with the local industry.
The event showcased a wide array of results from various undergraduate and postgraduate projects across numerous fields, including Artificial Intelligence and Signal Processing, Biomedical Engineering, Communication and Information Engineering, Power and Energy, High Voltage, Renewable Energy, Electronics and Instrumentation, Robotics, and Control and Automation. These research endeavors aim to provide innovative solutions for an increasingly competitive future and are expected to inspire advancements in technological innovation.
DEEE held a Career Fair concurrently with the symposium, in collaboration with several top companies in Sri Lanka. The objective was to offer job opportunities to our final-year undergraduates. Industry experts from each sector conducted in-person interviews to identify the right candidate for their job openings.
The EEES Night, which brings together undergraduates, academic staff, and distinguished alumni to celebrate the department's rich legacy, took place at Water's Edge, Colombo. This gathering strengthens bonds across generations and recognizes collective achievements.
