Congratulations to the project team from the Department for achieving First Place and the Gold Award at the Sri Lanka Energy Managers Association (SLEMA) Annual Research Awards for the Most Outstanding Undergraduate Energy Research in 2026, presented during the SLEMA Annual Sessions 2026.
Their project, titled “Light Sensing and Control of an Agrovoltaic Plant,” pioneers an intelligent phenotyping system and focuses on crop modeling for Ceylon Tea. By creating a light control framework for agrovoltaic systems, they are leading the way in integrating solar energy generation with agricultural cultivation, ensuring optimal light conditions for plant growth and paving the path for a sustainable future.
