Biography

Nuwan Herath received his BSc.Eng degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with first-class honors from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, in 2016. He received his M.Sc. and Ph.D degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Manitoba, Canada, in 2019 and 2022 respectively. During his doctoral studies, he has contributed to the CIGRE B4.84 working group and volunteered to review numerous journal and conference articles. Before joining the University of Peradeniya, he held a power systems engineer role at Transpower New Zealand (System Operator). He was an active team member of the Future Security and Resiliency (FSR) project headed by the Electricity Authority of New Zealand and Transpower NZ.  Dr. Nuwan Herath's research interests include electro-magnetic transient (EMT) simulation, power electronics, and power system studies.
