He is a Proud product of DEEE and was a Research Assistant (2002-2004) at the DEEE, University of Peradeniya. Notably, this award recognizes outstanding achievements. Dr. Gajanayake received it for his exceptional innovation activities including over 100 patent applications and granted patents, and bringing pride to the Department and the Country.

He has also been honored with the ASEAN Outstanding Engineering Achievement Award 2023 and the IES Prestigious Engineering Achievement Award 2023 for his outstanding engineering projects.

Dr. Gajanayake is a dynamic and visionary Power Electronics and Electrical Engineering professional with over two decades of comprehensive experience in pioneering R&D initiatives. He is recognized for leading the development of cutting-edge power electronics products and systems, driving innovation in aerospace electrification, and fostering the growth of R&D capabilities from the ground up. He has a proven track record in technical leadership and mentorship of top-tier engineering talent. He has demonstrated success in delivering impactful technology programs and developing key intellectual property, including over 100 patent applications, as well as contributions to over 100 publications with more than 3700 citations (as of June 2024).
