The Eng. D J Wimalasurendra Memorial Oration 2024 is a testament to the enduring legacy of innovation and progress. The oration was delivered by Prof. J.B. Ekanayake from DEEE on the transformative topic of "Reimagining Energy Infrastructure: The Next Generation of Transmission, Distribution, and Generation." The event took place on 18th September at 5:15 pm at the IESL Wimalasurendra Auditorium.

Eng. (Prof.) Janaka Bandara Ekanayake is a renowned electrical engineer with a strong background in renewable energy. He has published extensively, received numerous awards, and held research grants. Prof. Ekanayake has contributed to renewable energy projects in various countries and is a fellow of several professional societies. He currently serves as the Chair Professor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Peradeniya.
