IEEE Communication Society Student Competition is an annual International student competition with the goal of encouraging communications engineering students from worldwide to expand their knowledge, test and showcase new skills, and inspire innovation. It recognizes students, or teams of students, who demonstrate the ability to improve people’s lives through the application of communication technology.

In this year's competition, final-year undergraduates from the DEEE, Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya showed their excellence by securing an Honorary Mention in the IEEE ComSoc Student Competition 2023 "Communications Technology Changing the World".Their Final year Project "A 2-bit RIS Design with Vision-Based Localization for Wireless Communications" ranked among the "Best 16 projects Worldwide". This impressive performance is a testament to the hard work and dedication our undergraduates put into their final-year projects.
