Prof. Vijitha Herath has been elevated to the Senior Member category of Optica. Optica (formerly the Optical Society of America) founded in 1916 is the leading society for optics and photonics professionals. It has 22,000 members spread across the world. Over the years 45 Optica members have been awarded a Nobel Prize in Physics, Chemistry, or Physiology/Medicine. Optica publishes many high-impact journals and organizes conferences on optics and photonics.
