The Power, Energy and High Voltage Engineering Laboratory is the DEEE facility where students and researchers can learn about and experiment with the latest technologies in power, energy, high voltage applications, smart grid, renewable energy etc. The laboratory is equipped with a variety of hardware and software, including DC/AC motors, generators, inverters/converters, transformers, high voltage testing facilities, impulse generators, power electronic setups, oscilloscopes, signal generators, etc. There are several laboratories under PEHV lab: Power and Energy, Power Electronics and Industrial Systems, Electrical Machines and Drives, High Voltage and Smart Grid.

This laboratory is also used for a variety of purposes, including, Teaching, Conducting research and, Developing new products and applications in renewable energy, power electronics, machines and drives, transformers and transmission, power systems, and smart grid integration, etc. Further, students are given not only a sound theoretical knowledge but also a solid practical experience in power, energy and high voltage related areas as well. PEHV laboratories are essential part of the education and research in Electrical and Electronic Engineering field and provide students and researchers with the tools and resources they need to learn about and develop new technologies in power and energy.

Research and Innovation

This laboratory provide facilities for research and development of power, energy, smart grid integration and high voltage engineering and other inter-related areas. As mentioned, the lab has a variety of state-of-the-art equipment and resources that allow students and staff to investigate and design new methodologies and techniques. Some of the common research and development topics that are investigated in power laboratories include: Renewable energy generation and conversion, Condition monitoring, Lightning protection, Transformers, Power system analysis and modeling, Smart grid, Machine Drives and Designing, Solar PV systems, Electric vehicles, Smart meters, Multilevel inverters, AI-IOT integration, etc. Some of the recent collaborative projects with the industry and other research institutions and also postgraduate projects can be found here: collaborations of institutions, industry and PG projects.

High Voltage Engineering Laboratory

The High Voltage Engineering Laboratory is a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to the study of high voltage phenomena and the development of high voltage technologies.

Electrical Machines and Drives Laboratory

The Electrical Machines and Drives laboratory provides students with hands-on experience with the fundamental principles of Electrical Machines and Drives. A number of hardware setups and several commercial software are also available in the laboratory.

Power and Energy Laboratory

The Power and Energy Laboratory is a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to the research and education of power and energy systems. The laboratory is equipped with a wide range of equipment and software.

Power Electronics and Industrial Systems Laboratory

The PEIS Laboratory is an important resource of the DEEE. It provides a unique opportunity for students to learn about the latest power electronic and industrial control/automation systems and technologies, and to conduct cutting-edge research.

Smart Grid Laboratory

At the Smart Grid laboratory of the DEEE, we are investigating the possible solutions for challenges encountered when combining of electricity systems and ICT. Undergraduate and postgraduate projects are conducted on developing Smart Grid test facility at the Department.
