On August 29th, 2023, the 2nd Peradeniya University Research Excellence Showcase (PURES) was held at the Joint Research and Demonstration Centre for Water Technology (JRDC). The main objective of this event was to highlight innovative and state-of-the-art research work, as well as locally developed solutions that cater to national needs. The event also recognized the top-tier researchers of the university, including the recipients of the Prof. Lakshman Samaranayake Award and Tier 4* researchers, who were awarded based on the transparent research performance scheme initiated by the UGC. We are proud to announce that our members were among the Tier 4* Awardees:

• - Dr. S.A.H.A. Suraweera (Year 2022)
• - Prof. G.M.R.I. Godaliyadda (Year 2023)
• - Prof. M.P.B. Ekanayake (Year 2023)
• - Prof. D.N. Uduwawala (Year 2023)

The Inauguration Ceremony had Prof. Lakshman Samaranayake from the University of Hong Kong as the Guest of Honor, and it was attended by many prominent researchers from the University, key members of Government organizations, CEOs of major companies, and research administrators from the University. The event featured posters and exhibits (of DEEE Projects) covering all the sub-areas of the DEEE.

Further, PURES2023 included a round table discussion on  "Artificial Intelligence and Multidisciplinary Research" organized by the University Research Council. Several DEEE members have actively participated in the discussion as invitees and experts in the AI research.
