STUDENT CHAPTERS OF IEEE
IEEE Student members get the opportunity to join a community of over 420,000 technology and engineering professionals united by a common desire to continuously learn, interact, collaborate, and innovate. Further, they get a chance to access to the largest library of electrical engineering, computer science, and electronics technical literature as well as the latest technology trends, industry news, and events. DEEE has initiated several such IEEE Student Branches or Chapters in several inter-related areas of Electrical and Electronics and Computer Engineering.
IEEE Student Branch of University of Peradeniya
The Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Student Branch of the University of Peradeniya (IEEE SB UOP) chapter was established on the 19th of July 2001 with the help of IEEE senior members and dedicated student members. IEEE SB UOP mainly focuses on the benefits of the students with IEEE. Peradeniya student branch is the first-ever IEEE student chapter established in Sri Lanka, and it is one of the great and very active student branches in the IEEE regional community.
IEEE PES Peradeniya Student Branch Chapter
In August 2014, the IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES) Peradeniya Student Chapter was launched, with Prof. JB Ekanayake serving as the advisor. The IEEE PES is the second-largest society in IEEE and has a vast network of members and chapters worldwide. Its primary focus is on advancing technologies for energy generation, transmission, distribution, and utilization. The society brings together professionals from various fields to collaborate in the field of power and energy.
IEEE RAS Student Chapter - UOP
The IEEE Robotics and Automation Society which is commonly referred to as IEEE RAS contributes to the development and exchange of scientific knowledge on robotics and automation with applied and theoretical issues. The IEEE RAS student branch chapter of the UOP has been immensely contributed to fostering the student members towards robotics and automation being a great source of professional, scientific, and technical information and services.
IEEE IAS Chapter - UOP
If your engineering interests are the needs of the industrial or commercial sector, the Industry Applications Society (IAS) will be a valuable professional connection. One of the largest special interest societies within the IEEE, the IAS focuses specifically on the unique needs of industry and commerce. Through networking and participating regional events and national and international conferences, the society keeps members abreast of current developments in the area of technology in electricity and electronics.
IEEE ComSoc Student Chapter - UOP
"Bring the world together in Harmony through Communications and Networking Technology"
The IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) promotes the advancement of science, technology, and applications in communications and inter related disciplines. ComSoc student branch of UOP working by the vision to bring the world together in harmony through communications and networking technology.
IEEE MTTS Student Branch Chapter - UOP
The IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT-S) is a transnational society with more than 10,500 members and 190 chapters worldwide. The society promotes the advancement of microwave theory and its applications including RF, microwave, millimeter-wave, and terahertz technologies. We are the first IEEE MTT-S Student Branch Chapter in Sri Lanka. It was initiated in 2016 with the aim of being a strong internode in the chain of IEEE MTT-S to go ahead with the society vision and to succeed the mission.
IEEE WIE Student Branch Affinity Group - UOP
IEEE WIE Affinity Group of University of Peradeniya was established to inspire and empower young females to use their diverse talents, in achieving the technical eminence with the proper maintenance of work-life balance, and to innovate for the betterment of humanity. Our Affinity Group organizes technical workshops, charity work, promotional activities and many other events to achieve the mission of IEEE WIE. We also encourage our members to connect with the IEEE WIE community and collaborate with the Sri Lanka Section, R10 and the worldwide WIE network to participate and contribute in many activities and programs organized.
