To introduce basic concepts of probability and inferential statistics.

To provide the basic knowledge necessary to make a first approximation of a typical thermodynamic process.

To make the students understand the functions and mechanics of simple machine elements and for them to be able to analyze the motion and forces in mechanisms.

To provide an industrial exposure for the students to acquire, develop, and demonstrate the requisite knowledge, professional skills, work ethics and attitudes which will be useful for the smooth transition from academic environment to professional engineering working environment at the completion of the undergraduate degree programme.
