PERABOTS ’25 is a national robotics competition organized by the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Society (EEES) of the University of Peradeniya. It is held in partnership with the IESL Students’ Chapter and the Robotics Society of UoP to bring together students passionate about robotics and technology.

The prototype of the elephant-train collision prevention system, developed through a collaborative project, has rightfully garnered media attention following the tragic elephant-train accident at the Galoya-Habarana rail track. This technology is a crucial step towards preventing such incidents in the future.

One of the teams from the University of Peradeniya has secured the top spot among the Sri Lankan contestants in the global coding challenge IEEEXtreme 18.0 while securing the 66th position globally.

The EEES at the University of Peradeniya proudly organized the E22 Induction Program, a transformative series of sessions designed to empower our newest students with the foundational knowledge, skills, and opportunities that will guide them on their inspiring academic and professional journeys.

Eng. (Prof) R. H. Paul Memorial Oration 2025 took place on February 07th at 5:15 pm at the IESL Wimalasurendra Auditorium. The speech was delivered by Prof. B.G.L.T. Samaranayake, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering (DEEE), and the topic was "Advancing Solar PV Integration: Addressing Challenges for a Resilient and Sustainable Energy Future."

We are excited to announce that Kasun Weerakoon, DEEE Alumnus, has been awarded the 2023-2024 George Harhalakis Outstanding Systems Engineering Graduate Student Award.

The Department is inviting applications for the first intake of 2025. The deadline for submissions is January 31, 2025.

A seminar and workshop series on electronics is conducted by Prof. Nihal Kularatna, and organized by the EEES and DEEE.
