This award is to recognize those individuals who have exhibited exemplary and substantive leadership of an extraordinary nature in implementing activities that support the goals of Member and Geographic Activities (MGA) at the local, regional, national, and/or international level. The MGA Leadership Award is presented annually.

The Cooperative Agreement between the University of Peradeniya and Kelani Cables PLC was signed on the 14th of October 2022 at the Senate Room, University of Peradeniya. Prof. MD Lamawansa, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya and Mr Mahinda Saranapala, Director/CEO of Kelani Cables PLC signed extending the collaborations by another five years. Ms M. Dharmasiri, Acting Registrar of the University of Peradeniya and Dr Anil Munasinghe, General Manager (Marketing), were the witnesses in the agreement.

Prof. J.B. Ekanayake and Dr. H.A.S.A. Suraweera from DEEE are among the top 2 % researchers in the world in 2020, 2021 and 2022. Scientists in different fileds have been recognized under (1) career long citation impact and (2) the citation impact in the year 2021 by the Stanford University, USA.
