Biography
Dr. Isuru Dasanayake is a senior lecturer attached to the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Peradeniya. He graduated from the same university in 2006 with a first-class honors in electrical and electronic engineering. Upon graduation, he spent a brief time at the university as an instructor and joined Sri Lanka Telecom PLC as an IP VPN operations engineer. In 2007, he was admitted to the Washington University in St. Louis, USA for graduate studies, where he completed his master's in Systems Science and Mathematics (2009) and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (2013). During his graduate studies, he studied the optimal control of weakly forced neurological oscillators which has a direct impact on novel therapeutical procedures for chronic neurological disorders such as Parkinson’s disease. In 2013, he joined the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) as a postdoctoral scholar to develop automated closed-loop insulin administration algorithms for type 1 diabetes known as the artificial pancreas development. After spending two years at UCSB he joined Intel Corporation as a Test R&D engineer at Intel’s campus at Hillsboro, Oregon. He spent 6 years at Intel, and in 2021 he moved back to the University of Peradeniya to assume the duties as a senior lecturer.
