Biography
Currently, Kithsiri serves as a senior professor in the department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Peradeniya, where he has been a faculty member for over 30 years. Prior to this, he has held academic positions at the University of Tokyo, University of Washington, and University of Ruhuna.
During his time as a faculty member in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Peradeniya, he has been involved in several national-level roles, including serving as the secretary to the Ministry of National Policies, Economic Affairs Child Youth and Cultural Affairs, as well as holding positions such as Chairman of PUCSL, Chairman of Engineering Service Board, and Member of the National Salaries and Cadre Commission. He has also participated in numerous national committees and policy forum. Moreover, he has held visiting positions at the University of Tokyo, Japan, Oulu University, Finland, and Meijo University, Japan. Additionally, he has served as the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Ruhuna and the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies at SLIIT. He has also held several other positions, including Director of the Information Technology Center and Director of the Computing Center of the Faculty of Engineering, as well as Head of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department at the University of Peradeniya. Furthermore, he has served as a member of the board of Directors of the MILODA Academy of Financial Studies, Bank of Ceylon and Sri Lanka Telecom/ Mobitel.
He obtained his B.Sc.Eng. (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka in 1983, and his M.Eng. and Dr.Eng. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Tokyo, Japan in 1988 and 1991, respectively. He is a fellow of Institute of Engineers Sri Lanka, Senior Member of IEEE, USA, and a Chartered Engineer.
