The University of Peradeniya on 01 of July, 2023 (The Founder's Day) hosted an Open Day, to mark the 80th anniversary of the university. Accordingly, all nine Faculties were open to the public, giving them the opportunity to explore the premises, interact with faculty members and current students, engage in interactive sessions, and gain invaluable insights into the diverse range of academic programs and opportunities offered by the University of Peradeniya.

DEEE showcased some of its research outcomes, state-of-the-art laboratories, cutting edge technology, robots, etc., and first ever AI based musical show. IEEE Peradeniya Student Branch, other IEEE Student Chapters and the Robotic Society of  University of Peradeniya also demonstrate exhibits and educate the public about their activities, achievements, etc.  A lot of enthusiastic and curious crowd visited the department and most importantly, they left a lot of feedback, which we can use constructively to improve. 

Further, we are proudly announce that the Theme song of the 80th Anniversary of University of Peradeniya was composed by one of the exceptionally talented DEEE members, Dr. J.V. Wijayakulasooriya. Congratulations to Dr. Janaka for this remarkable achievement, and it is a testament to your unwavering dedication and exceptional triumph. The speciality of the song is that it is a remarkable composition that seamlessly integrates artificial intelligence and human creativity.
